DAVIS, CA (MPG) - Congressman Mike Thompson has scored a resounding win in the primary election, besting his nearest opponent by double digits and NBC projecting that he will be moving on to the general election in November.

“I’m honored and grateful to the voters of our district for their overwhelming support. Thank you for putting your trust in me,” said Congressman Mike Thompson.  “I am so thankful to the over 240 local elected officials and community leaders that supported my campaign, every volunteer who put up a sign, collected petition signatures, knocked on doors, and talked to our neighbors. Ours was a true grassroots effort!”

Thompson is running for re-election in CA-04, the district in which he was born, grew up and still lives. This district includes much of the district he currently represents in Napa, Sonoma, Lake and Yolo Counties and new areas in Colusa, Placer, Sacramento, Sutter and Yuba Counties.

Based on his strong first-place finish on Tuesday, Thompson advances to the General Election, which will be held on November 3, 2026.

Congressman Thompson is a member of the House Ways and Means Committee, which has jurisdiction over health care, tax, trade, Social Security and income security issues.  He is the Ranking Member of the Tax Subcommittee and a senior member of the Health Subcommittee.  He is also a member of the fiscally responsible Blue Dog Coalition.
