SACRAMENTO, CA (MPG) – U.S. Representative Doris Matsui released the following statement after election results showed her advancing to the November general election as a top-two finisher in California's 7th Congressional District:

"I'm grateful to the voters of this community for their support. This campaign has provided me the opportunity to reconnect with so many people I've represented and worked alongside for years, as well as getting to know new people and communities across this redrawn district. 

“I'm confident that my record of delivering for this community and my vision for the future – more affordable lives, better health care, and holding Donald Trump accountable – will earn the trust of voters for another term in Congress."

Doris Matsui represents California’s 7th Congressional District, which encompasses the heart of the Sacramento region. As a result of Proposition 50, the boundaries of the 7th Congressional District will change, retaining areas such as downtown Sacramento, Elk Grove, Galt, and Rancho Murieta, while incorporating areas in and around Lodi, El Dorado Hills and Placerville.
