SACRAMENTO, CA (MPG) – Congresswoman Doris Matsui’s re-election campaign released its first TV and digital ad of the General Election. The ad aired on Sept. 8 with a six figure buy in the Sacramento media market, CTV, Youtube TV and other streaming platforms, and on social media.

Matsui’s personal story and public service record are rooted in her firsthand experience of injustice. Her parents and grandparents were among the 120,000 forced to leave their homes during WWII. She was born behind barbed wire in Poston, Arizona.

Watch the ad “Never Again”

“They were sent by their own government – our government – to an internment camp. They lived in appalling conditions. Surrounded by a barbed wire fence and armed guards – solely because of who they were,” Matsui recounts. “We cannot let ICE and this Administration take away our rights and drag us back to a darker time. I’ll never stop fighting for our community.”

U.S. Senator Alex Padilla, a prominent endorser, said in a video earlier this year, “She’s known her entire life the importance of the fight for our fundamental civil rights. It’s what motivates her every day, and it brings her deep perspective to the fight against ICE, CBP and their violations of our constitutional rights every single day.

Rep. Matsui is barnstorming this political season eight weeks before Election Day with powerful endorsements from Planned Parenthood, firefighters, teachers, nurses, AFSCME, Equality California, Sierra Club, Sacramento Deputy Sheriff’s Association, California Democratic Party, Governor Gavin Newsom, U.S. Senators Alex Padilla and Adam Schiff, a majority of city councilmembers and county supervisors, and almost every colleague in the California Congressional delegation.

In her new TV ad, Rep. Matsui says:

I was born behind barbed wire in an internment camp.

I know what it’s like when your own government sends you away.

So when ICE comes after our community, I fight back.

I show up – at the processing center, at the courthouse, at their office door.

I’ll never stop fighting.

Not while they’re still coming for our healthcare, our clean water, our neighbors.

Not here. Never again.

Not on my watch.
